In 1995, Maine Roasters Coffee opened its first coffee bar in the town of Yarmouth, Maine. Originally housed in a weathered-down mill, our unique coffee chain was created to provide customers with a Maine-made alternative to the run-of-the-mill coffee shops located throughout the state. Under former founder and owner Rand Smith, the company solidified multiple retail locations backed by a strategic business plan and an uncompromising buy-local attitude.

In February of 2004, Maine Roasters Coffee assumed new ownership when it was purchased by three Maine families who possessed a strong desire to turn the company into the best local roaster in the state of Maine. To this day, our commitment to providing superior hand-roasted coffee and our buy-local initiative continues to define our business model as we constantly strive to be Maine's favorite gourmet coffee roaster.

With coffee bars in Yarmouth, Falmouth, South Portland, and Portland, MRC continues to play an integral part in our surrounding communities.
